AUSTIN JACKSON FOR YDSC PRESIDENT

Austin Jackson, of the Young Democrats of the Central Midlands, is one of YDSC's founding members. From Communications Director under Mike Glymph to Secretary under Bree Maxwell and Jeni Atchley to Deputy Parliamentarian and Progressive Caucus Chair under Atchley, Austin has the experience to lead--and will put it to work for our members.

Austin is running for President of YDSC at our next State Convention, on April 29 and 30, 2022.

RE-ELECT SAM GRANT FOR YDSC FIRST VICE PRESIDENT

Sam Grant, our current First Vice President, is a member of the Lowcountry Young Democrats and a Columbia native. He is the youngest YDSC officer in our history, and has already made a huge impact on our organization from leading the charge against gerrymandering to seeking statewide High School and College Caucuses.

 

Sam is running for a full two-year term as First Vice President of YDSC at our next State Convention.

KIRSTEN PRUITT FOR YDSC SECOND VICE PRESIDENT

Kirsten Pruitt is the newly-elected Third Vice Chair of the Greenville County Democratic Party and current Chair of the Young Democrats of Greenville County, a chapter that has done great things in 2021. In the year since she took office in a special election, her chapter has grown membership, raised hundreds of dollars for the chapter, and is serving as the Secretary of the YDA Credentials Committee.

Kirsten will run for YDSC Second Vice President at our State Convention.

EMILY MAYER FOR YDSC TREASURER

Emily Mayer is a Beaufort County educator, a new mother, and tireless advocate for teachers and students everywhere in South Carolina. In the last year Emily has served as First Vice Chair of the Young Democrats of the Coastal Empire, Deputy Outreach Director, interim First Vice President, and Outreach Director.

Emily is running for YDSC Treasurer at our State Convention.

BRANDI MATHERLY FOR YDSC NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER

Brandi Matherly is a rising star in South Carolina Democratic politics. She is the current Chair of the Lowcountry Young Democrats, and also serves as the Executive Director for the Charleston County Democratic Party & Chair of the SCDP Labor & Progressive Caucus.

Brandi previously served as YDSC's Communications Director before becoming LYD's Chair.

WALTER REED FOR YDSC NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER

Walter Reed is a member of the Young Democrats of the Central Midlands, and a campaign organizer from Columbia.

​

His experience from the 2020 campaign of now-Secretary Pete Buttigieg to prior service as an organizer for the South Carolina Democratic Party to now as campaign manager for Congressman Jim Clyburn will be invaluable to both YDSC and to the Young Democrats of America.
